The Slap Heard Round The World #052

This past Sunday was the Oscars. And even if you didn’t watch them yourself, you have probably heard about The Slap! On live television, Will Smith, an actor who was nominated for an Oscar and actually won later in the night, got up on stage and slapped Chris Rock, a comedian, in the face. All of this started because Chris Rock made a controversial joke about Jada Pinkett Smith, Will’s wife. This has opened up a lot of debate that falls on both sides. I’m sure you have an opinion on it, so tune in to find out what mine is!

👋🏾 Francine, enjoyed your comments on “ the Slap Heard Around the World”. I’d like to say a little something on that matter…
Having not watched the Oscars in it’s entirety in something like 30+years; I was really excited. And I really wanted Will Smith to win (one could feel it in the air)! So when Will got up from his seat, after laughing at Chris Rock’s joke I might add, it was a shocker!
Something either was said or Jada motioned🤷🏽‍♀️, whatever it was he had a complete 160 and went up to him and slapped him across the face. I and others feel that was completely inappropriate!
Having said that, I must say I loss my feeling. I mean I still wanted Will to win but it just wasn’t the same. We always teach our kids not to fight and especially not to strike out on words; what’s the saying: sticks and stones….
So Will was way out of line. Chris Rock shares some blame and people should take note: Everything is not off limits in comedy. Certainly not everyone thinks it is. I hate to say it but I don’t think Will’s apology was real as he waited 20 hours later to make it. I think when he read the responses he decided to make it.
Anyway I feel both were wrong. They should meet together and shake hands and go their separate ways. Let’s see what’s next for them both.
    PS: you’re going to need a follow-up!
