Although we all knew it was inevitable, I think for many it’s still sad news to hear that Queen Elizabeth II has died. The topic of death is never easy, so hers is also difficult for many of her subjects and her family. However, being that the UK has a constitutional Monarchy, the death of a Queen means the ascension of a King. King Charles III to be exact. Being American, I don’t know if I support a monarchy as an institution, but as a military veteran, I am drawn to the pomp and circumstance of it all. What do you think? Is it time for the Monarchy to end, and along with it a brutal history? Or is there room in modern civilization for one more King? It’s a question I leave for you to decide. For me, I’ll just watch the ceremonies from this side of the pond.
